Job Description: We are seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our team and ensure the smooth operation of our butcher shop. The ideal candidate will have a passion for local meat and a strong background in hospitality and butcher shops. You will be responsible for overseeing daily operations, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and delivering exceptional customer service. Your leadership will inspire your team to create a welcoming atmosphere for our customers while driving the butcher shop’s success.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of butcher shop operations, including staffing, training and team management
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene
- Manage and participate in meat and food preparation processes to guarantee quality and consistency
- Develop and implement effective strategies to enhance customer service and satisfaction
- Conduct interviews and hire staff to build a strong, motivated team
- Build relationships with local producers and ensure good communication, transparency and animal husbandry practices
- Monitor inventory levels, order supplies and manage costs effectively
- Create staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours
- Address customer complaints and feedback promptly to maintain a positive shopping experience
- Collaborate with butchers to develop new items and improve existing offerings
- Ability to work all positions within the shop to ensure adequate staffing during high volume events
Requirements:
- Proven experience in butcher shop management or a similar role within the food service industry
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and regulations
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team
- Exceptional customer service skills with a focus on creating memorable experiences
- Proficient in meat and other food preparation techniques and kitchen operations
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong problem solving skills with the capacity to handle challenging situations effectively
- A passions for hospitality and local meat, with a commitment to excellence in service delivery
- Ability to lift 50lbs
